Integrated Payments Success Stories
Our integrated payments solutions are being used successfully by numerous software developers and their customers to integrate EMV-compliant payments into their point of sale or practice management software – quickly and easily.
Practice Director Selects Total Merchant Services for Integrated Payments
While Practice Director has been developing and selling enterprise software to eye care professionals since 2006, the company’s clients had to line up their own payment processing partners up until last year. That’s when client demand predicated the company’s decision to embrace Total Merchant Services as its payment processing partner of record.
“Reimbursements are so important to our clients,” says Sarah Dirksen, product manager at Practice Director. “We didn’t have a payment processing provider prior to 2015, so partnering with Total Merchant Services has been very exciting for us.”
While EMV adoption is relatively slow in the space, the integration with Total Merchant Services ensures that our clients will be able to adopt the standard, as well as mitigate any concern around PCI compliance and payment data security in general.

Product Manager, Williams Group
The integration, which is currently in beta at select sites, allows seamless payment processing in a relatively complicated payments environment. Whether out-of-pocket expenses or insurance and Medicare reimbursements, the partnership eases financial management for practitioners by feeding payment data into the Practice Director platform as well as facilitating transactions with the card brands.
While the integration project is new to Practice Director, familiarity with Total Merchant Services is not. Dirksen says a number of her company’s clients have been using a standalone application of Total Merchant Services for several years.
“We feel confident that Total Merchant Services is prepared to help our clients meet the payment acceptance challenges they face in a constantly evolving payments landscape,” says Dirksen. “Specifically, the growth of mobile payment methods like Apple Pay and Google Pay is becoming a factor for our clients. And while EMV adoption is relatively slow in the space, the integration with Total Merchant Services ensures that our clients will be able to adopt the standard, as well as mitigate any concern around PCI compliance and payment data security in general.”
While many small ISVs laud partnerships-of-record with payment processing providers as an excellent source of recurring revenue, Dirksen says that benefit — while appreciated — was a nonfactor in Practice Director’s decision to choose Total Merchant Services. “We’re approached with residual revenue propositions quite frequently,” she says, “but we make our partnership decisions based solely on what’s best for our clients and our software.”
Dirksen says that general rollout will be presented soon as an optional feature of Practice Director, and her company’s clients are already showing strong interest. “Total Merchant Services offers a price-match guarantee, free terminals, and other incentives to our clients. Those perks, combined with the efficiency gains they’ll achieve through the integration of our platforms, were very well received when we announced the integration at our user group conference in April.”
Eyefinity Acuity Logic Gains
EMV Compliance with Total Merchant Services
Eyefinity, a leading provider of software for optometrists and eye care professionals, needed an integrated payment solution to work with AcuityLogic, a cloud based practice management system. AcuityLogic helps optometrists process insurance payments and claims, link exam codes to maximize reimbursement rates, and accept and track payment from customers. Large multi-location optometrists, such as Pearl Vision and My Eye Doctor, use AcuityLogic to manage their business.
Eyefinity needed the following for their eye care professionals
and their software:
• Enable EMV Chip card acceptance and NFC acceptance
• Keep EMV and PCI “out of scope” of the Acuity Logic software
• Work with a variety of browsers and software languages
• Quick implementation for both developers and they eye
• Affordable rates and affordable equipment
Since it places PCI and EMV compliance out of scope, Groovv SDK saved us time and money that would have been required to integrate payments with our software. Now our optometrists have a fully compliant, affordable payment solution that seamlessly integrates with their payment workflow, eliminating double data entry and saving them time.

Manager of Certified Partners
Eyefinity turned to Total Merchant Services and used the Groovv SDK to meet their needs. Total Merchant Services has developed an innovative solution that routes sensitive cardholder data directly to the payment infrastructure and non-sensitive customer information to the software application. Sensitive card data is encrypted and routed directly to the payment host or gateway, thereby keeping EMV and PCI “out of scope.” The semi-integrated environment ensures that all of these systems work together seamlessly, while isolating, securing, and streamlining the path of sensitive cardholder data.
Groovv SDK had to be easy to implement for the Eyefinity and AcuityLogic development team. AcuityLogic required the C Sharp language, and had to work with multiple operating systems and browsers. In addition, it had to be fast and easy for Eyefinity developers to implement. Eyefinity was able to code and test the integration is less than a week.
With the integration complete, set up at eye care professional workstations needed to be fast and easy. First, the solution had to be compatible with several versions of the Windows operating system. In addition, because AcuityLogic is a cloud based software, multiple browsers needed to be supported, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome. The system had to work with various security and anti-virus software and setting on the local workstation. And the installation had to be fast, completed in under ten minutes. Lastly, installations had to support multiple workstations and payment processing solutions.
Total Merchant Services created an automated installer that scanned the workstation environment that instantly determined issues related to the eye care professional’s environment and recommended required changes and improvements. The scan and remediation process enabled the environment to be set up for installation in minutes. Installations were also handled remotely and in many cases with limited assistance from Total Merchant Services staff.
In addition to providing an EMV and PCI compliant solution, the integrated solution provides eye care professionals with several other benefits. First, the integrated process is easy and saves them time, as double data entry from the software to the terminal is no longer required. In addition, the eye care professional saves money because Total provides them with a free EMV Terminal and savings on their processing fees.
“Since it places PCI and EMV compliance out of scope, Groovv SDK saved us time and money that would have been required to integrate payments with our software,” said Adam Thomas, Manager of certified partners for Eyefinity. “Groovv SDK is easy to implement, and now our optometrists have a fully compliant, affordable payment solution that seamlessly integrates with their payment workflow, eliminating double data entry and saving them time.”
