The Operational Risk Analyst is responsible for maintaining acceptable loss ratios by effectively analyzing and taking action on accounts that expose Total Merchant Services to unnecessary business risk. The successful applicant will be a subject matter expert on identifying irregularities in data patterns, and obtaining documentation required to resolve adverse actions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzes daily merchant batch settlements for parameter violations and initiates appropriate adverse action in order to mitigate loss
- Investigates high risk or suspicious transaction activity with merchants, issuing banks, and cardholders in order to determine the proper action
- Communicates with merchants & sales partners regarding exception activity and requests additional documentation to support processing activity
- Perform other critical job functions as assigned

Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires an in depth knowledge of Visa, MasterCard, and Discover regulations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, as well as to draw and interpret graphical data.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MAS, FMS (Fraud Management System), QuickBase, Lexis Nexis, Paychex, Amplify, Outlook, Access, Visio, Excel, Word, and other customer management platforms.
