Total Merchant Services brings latest EMV and NFC technologies to merchants thanks to Ingenico Group

Payment solution works with NFC products like Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Softcard

Terminals also EMV-enabled for 2015 changeover

Woodland Hills, Calif. (October 14, 2014) – In keeping with its focus on providing cutting edge payment solutions for small- to mid-sized businesses, Total Merchant Services today announced it will offer Ingenico Group’s terminals for its free terminal placement program. With this transition to Ingenico, the global leader in seamless payment, Total clients will be able to accept contactless payment with the same NFC technology used by Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Softcard. Additionally, the Ingenico terminals are EMV capable – delivering the latest in fraud prevention technology.

Thierry Denis, President of Ingenico North America, says, “This industry transition to EMV is the biggest change to hit the U.S. payments industry in 10+ years. EMV is at the heart of Ingenico Group’s DNA, and we are very pleased to support Total Merchant Services in deploying innovative EMV- and NFC-enabled terminals in order to provide their customers with the most secure and flexible payment solutions.”

EMV is the global standard for credit and debit cards. It uses an embedded microprocessor instead of the traditional magnetic stripe to help reduce instances of fraud. Effective October 2015, all U.S. merchants will have a liability shift for chargeback protection if they are not using EMV enabled devices. NFC technology is the system for the contactless payment available on the Apple phones and watches as well as Google Wallet and Softcard.

Total is making a sizable investment in terminal technology as we transform from a credit card processing company to an innovative provider of technology solutions for SMBs. With Ingenico Group’s products, we believe our sales partners and their customers will be ahead of the curve – translating into increased opportunities to grow their businesses,” says Joe Kaplan, CEO of Total Merchant Services.

Kaplan continues, “Between the Ingenico terminals and Groovv, our innovative suite of products and marketing solutions that help retail and restaurant businesses grow, Total is delivering cutting edge business solutions for retailers.”

In addition to the EMV and NFC capabilities, the Ingenico terminals offer an intuitive display for simple navigation, support for dial and high-speed IP communication and strong security to protect against physical device attacks.
